To start with-love the accent!!
I am a 73 year old that worked up till 2 years ago when I was told to quit because the mini strokes I was having could be my end! In the years prior to this, I amassed roughly $4000. worth of fabrics. With this I make anything from a children’s line of clothing to quilts and other bedding. I recently started looking into setting up a website and was thrilled to see what you are doing. Can’t wait for more of paticulars…..and God bless you!!

Do you need a business license and a
tax number to sell on line?

Just what I have been looking for! Thanks!

Are you still accepting people to sign up for these videos? I’m thinking that my sister might like to see them, too.

I like the simple straight forward approach of your videos. I need to get going and make something to sell, if I’m going to use this information!

Thank you.

Kathy

Hello
This is a wonderful idea – and free too – what more can one ask.

I would like to know about the payment arrangements. How can one be sure that money has been paid in before shipping the craft goods which are for sale.

Another thing – what about the customs duties in different countries?

Interesting stuff Michelle – I’ve used all these resources. I’m interested in how to get my product noticed by a prospective customer. Etsy volume is so overwhelming. Looking forward to the next video.

By Colette Leclair on April 7th, 2010 at 4:47 am

What would be the cheapest way to get product to the buyer Canada post is rather expensive is there an easier way i.e. flat rate shipping.

I am so please that you are sharing this information with us! I do know that just having a blog and or webpage is not enought to sell your crafts or informational video’s. So I do hope you will cover. How to get traffic to site, a lead capture page for getting a list building to market too. If someone doesn’t have a craft to sell, How they can have a craft online store. Then how to set up an autoresponder and how to put your online craft business on automation. I understand that article writing is also a good way to market and get free traffic to site. Which hosting company you reconmend. Having a business on line is exciting, but it does take work and there are expenses, ie: hosting company, autoresponders, if you use pcp or adwords there is an expense as well. Without traffic to your site and list, it will take longer to get your business producing. Looking forward to see where your going with this. I do think it is a great idea, Love what your doing so far here.

I believe what you are doing is fantastic… But, I do believe you should also be decent enough to tell people the down side to Etsy compared to eBay…
Ebay has no doubt gone down hill in the last couple of years but at least a person can sell there. I listed over 50 of my wax embed products on Etsy for a period of over 6 months and never got a single sale. In the same space of time I made over 200 sales with the same products on Ebay…
I could say much more but I believe your readers needed to know that Etsy has a long way to go if they are ever going to hold a candle to Ebay.
Good luck in your venture

Hi Gary,

Thanks for the great comments you make. You have a point about Etsy but there are plenty of people who do make a lot of money from it. Ebay is fantastic because it puts you in a place where people already have their wallets out and are ready to buy.. I don’t believe either Ebay nor Etsy should be used in isolation – instead they should be a part of your overall online marketing plan. To make a real business online you need to have your own website – this is a real asset! You can then link your Etsy store and Ebay store/listings to your website..

Thanks again for your great comment.
Warmly
Michelle

Hi Michelle! I have long wanted to start a business online with my craft but really didn’t know how to go about it. I know about eBay and have used them in the past but now I am looking forward to getting a different perspective on how to market my craft! Thanks for all you are doing to help all of us novices!
